Phoenix Landing Live is starting out strong with Makka Monday. Cambridge’s longest running reggae night, and one of Boston’s best. Lead and created by Selecta Voyager:01, the founder and resident DJ of “Makka Monday.” Do not miss it, tonight at 7pm.
In the over twenty years of his dj career, Voyager has shared the stage with reggae greats including Beres Hammond, Freddy McGregor, Sizzla, Chronixx and many more. 
Voyager first fell in love with the power of music at the age of 16 as the lead singer for hardcore band Kingpin, playing clubs like The Rat, T.T. the Bears, the Middle East and the Channel. During the mid 90’s, Voyager was becoming a huge fan of foundation reggae and dub music from out of Jamaica, and began buying tons of reggae on vinyl.
Inspired by the messages and rhythms of reggae, Voyager’s dj career launched in 1998 when he first got his turntables and started making mix tapes. His smooth mixing style and well thought out selections set Voyager’s mixes apart from the rest, and were in high rotation around the town at the time.
Soon DJ Selecta Voyager:01 was playing house parties and clubs such as The Western Front, The Roxy, and The Phoenix Landing. His vinyl 45 collection now numbers in the ten thousands and he is one of the founding members of Satellite Sound, a reggae/dancehall soundsystem crew with members in Jamaica, Boston, and Connecticut; with hundreds of dubplates to their name.
Voyager started MAKKA MONDAY on February 6th 2000 (Bob Marley’s Birthday!), and has been rocking the crowd weekly there ever since for over 2 decades! Anyone who’s been lucky enough to check out Makka Monday, even one time, knows that Selecta Voyager:01 brings the highest vibes to the masses.
